Dorothy Draper
Here is a "shout out" to the inspiring talents that are our best of the best. Where to start... aah yes with the Queen of it all! We are mad about Dorothy Draper who definitely is "In the Pink" on all things Hollywood Regency. She referred to her signature style as "Modern Baroque." Her collaboration on the decor @ the historical Greenbriar Inn is legendary. She is the premier doyenne of decorating in America bar none!

If you aren't lucky enough to have a Espana Chest that Dorothy designed for her renovation of Brazil's famous Palácio Quintandinha or a fabulous Rocco Mirror that is Dorothy inspired poor thing, get on over to The Cat & we will "hook you up" with a Dorothyesque gem. As Dorothy always said “if it looks right, it is right”.  Heart her!

Need a copy of In the Pink ? Honey, we just happen to have them in stock @ The Cat in our Frill Seekers Bazaar booth.

One more thing on Dorothy....

Victorian Writing Room, Greenbriar Inn, Dorothy Draper
Does this image make your toes curl & have you looking for a fainting couch? Then we are kindred spirits. This "WOW" shot of Dorothy's Victorian Writing Room @ The Greeenbriar Inn & has been deemed "the most photographed" room in America.  Nuff said; she is a rock star among the design industry & we love her so. Did we mention pink & green with black & white make us swoon???  Dorothy did love her some black & white. Why a room is not defined without a touch of black to ground it; but of course y'all knew that....

Next a little shout out to Dorothy's protege the man who is not afraid of color; Mr. Carlton Varney himself! I bet he dreams in the hues from the color wheel.

Billy Baldwin who made us fall in love with anything bamboo

Picture
Billy Baldwin
From AD ~ The dean of indigenous decorators (he abhorred the term interior designer), Billy Baldwin was at once a classicist and a modernist. Though his aesthetic emotions were from time to time stirred by things Continental, in general he disdained the florid, baroque and rococo in favor of the clean-cut, hard-edged and pared-down. Among his early influences were Frances Elkins, perhaps the most sophisticated decorator of her day, and Jean-Michel Frank, whom he described categorically as “the last genius of French furniture.”
